Why people switch

Metal halide lamps lose about a third of their output in the first year and keep fading. They take ten to fifteen minutes to restrike after a power blip. They need a ballast, and the lamp is a consumable. LED starts instantly, holds its output, and the fixture is the whole product — nothing to replace for years.

At current DFW commercial rates, swapping ten 400W metal halides for 150W LEDs running 10 hours a day saves roughly $1,000 a year in electricity, before you count the lamps and the lift rental you're not paying for.
